Thank goodness I decided it's past time to look into feeding my Dachshunds something other than the highly over rated, highly processed dog food....and I found you!! I am so looking forward to reading everything you've written & wish that I could actually meet you!!! Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge & keep up the excellent work! My beautiful little Katie, long hair mini Doxie scratches 24/7 and I've tried everything, spent a fortune & still haven't found any relief for her...until now!! Thanks to you though, I believe I have found the answer!! Bless you Woman!! Thank you so much!

Hi Jessica,
I wouldn't be feeding rice at all because it's not species appropriate. Have the vets been able to identify what the so called systemic fungal infection is? First time in all my years I've heard of that. Are you feeding any bone? The dogs need to eat digestible bone every day. Flaking skin can even be caused by what shampoo is used.

Can I suggest you join the raw feeding group on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/rawfeedingcarnivores

all the best,

Jane

Dear Jane,

I have been feeding my dog with raw buffalo meal and cooked rice to reduce cost since he was a puppy and now 4 year old. Is it better to mince the raw meat or chucks are fine? He is starting to flake, almost dandruff like and the vets are saying he has systemic fungal infection due to the raw meat.

Just came across you site. I have a new pup, doberman and I am sick of feeding them everything they shouldn't eat. I want him to eat what nature would provide . I want him satisfied, content, happy and healthy. I am looking forward to reading your site.
