About Jane

hiya,

my name is Jane Anderson. I have been raw feeding my pets for millions of years. Well that’s what it feels like some days.

I live in rural Victoria, Australia (near Bendigo). I set up and now run a raw feeding boarding kennel. Between my partner’s dogs, my dogs, puppies, and boarding dogs (and then there’s the cattery), I can be feeding 60-70 dogs a raw diet every day. Luckily my suppliers deliver to me 2-3 time a week, and I have a walk in cool room (yippee), and 3 freezers for back up.

When people tell me that it’s too difficult to feed a raw diet to their one dog, you can see me roll my eyes. It really is easy. And it’s less work than feeding a processed dog diet, particularly when it comes to managing what comes out the other end!

My whole objective in setting up this website (do you like the improved format?) is to show people really how easy it is, and to answer a few questions you may have.

I’m not a vet, and I don’t want to be. You don’t need to be a vet to talk about dog diet.

I have Portuguese Water Dogs, 2 devon rex cats, 2 ferrets, and some toy poodles. I show, I judge, I import, I export, and I breed dogs. And I’ve been doing so for 20 odd years. Most of those years have been odd.

Feel free to add your commentary below. I do appreciate a good laugh, so try and impress me. Thankfully it seems the days are over where the keyboard warriors against raw have far diminished in number. Anyway, if you leave a comment, I get sent a copy of your internet isp thingy, so can track what I need to.

We all need to make our own decisions as to what we put in our own mouths, and what our pets eat.

hope to hear from you soon,

Jane

  1. Just came across you site. I have a new pup, doberman and I am sick of feeding them everything they shouldn’t eat. I want him to eat what nature would provide . I want him satisfied, content, happy and healthy. I am looking forward to reading your site.

  2. Dear Jane,

I have been feeding my dog with raw buffalo meal and cooked rice to reduce cost since he was a puppy and now 4 year old. Is it better to mince the raw meat or chucks are fine? He is starting to flake, almost dandruff like and the vets are saying he has systemic fungal infection due to the raw meat.

    1. Hi Jessica,
I wouldn’t be feeding rice at all because it’s not species appropriate. Have the vets been able to identify what the so called systemic fungal infection is? First time in all my years I’ve heard of that. Are you feeding any bone? The dogs need to eat digestible bone every day. Flaking skin can even be caused by what shampoo is used.

Can I suggest you join the raw feeding group on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/rawfeedingcarnivores

      all the best,

      Jane

  3. Thank goodness I decided it’s past time to look into feeding my Dachshunds something other than the highly over rated, highly processed dog food….and I found you!! I am so looking forward to reading everything you’ve written & wish that I could actually meet you!!! Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge & keep up the excellent work! My beautiful little Katie, long hair mini Doxie scratches 24/7 and I’ve tried everything, spent a fortune & still haven’t found any relief for her…until now!! Thanks to you though, I believe I have found the answer!! Bless you Woman!! Thank you so much!
